Rules

We have four rules for Drama Club. They are as follows:

1. We agree to respect Mr. Bannister and Miss Joy by not touching items in their rooms, and following their rules.

2. We agree to treat each other with kindness and respect – we will never make fun of each other, especially when we are performing.

3. We agree to be good audience members by keeping our bodies, hands, and mouths quiet while other students are performing.

  1. We agree to attend each rehearsal for which we are scheduled, except for illness.

“Theater is the most difficult ‘team sport’ there is!”

The consequences for choosing not to follow these rules are as follows:

First Offense: Students will not be allowed to participate in our activities for the rest of the afternoon. It would be a good idea for them to sit and write an apology note.

Second Offense: Parents/ guardians will be called.

Third Offense: Drama Club membership will be revoked.

These rules are extremely important to the physical and emotional safety and comfort of all students, and they will not be taken lightly.

Drama Club Guidelines

Students may need to choose whether they want to be involved with Troy Howard Middle School sports or be in the Drama Club. Because of conflicting times, it will may be impossible to be in both. If you know your child will not attend the Club on a particular day, please call Jason Bannister or Sarah Joy at 338-3320 before 2:00 pm.

On rare occasions, students who misbehave and disrupt the Club will be asked to leave immediately.

Friends of the Drama Club students may not wait for them in the auditorium. Teen visitors can be disruptive to the Club. “I have to walk home with them” is not an excuse for your child’s friend to stay in the auditorium.

Once auditions are complete each cast member will be required to purchase their own Ben Nye Stage Makeup kit for $12. These kits can last for many performances, even many different productions.

FINALLY… HAVE FUN – Adhering to these guidelines, ensures a positive and enjoyable time for your cast and crew. We want everyone’s experience in drama to be an extremely fun and memorable time.

Students are required to abide by code of conduct rules.

THEATER PROGRAM REGULATIONS

As a member of the cast and crew, I hereby agree to:

1. Be on time and properly prepared with your script, pencil and/or other supplies ready at the designated start time for every rehearsal. Being late is disruptive to all.

2. Work and behave in a professional manner during all rehearsal and meeting times, being considerate of others, careful to pay attention and not be a distraction. If I have down time during rehearsal, I will respectfully watch my cast mate’s rehearsals. It’s great to practice being a wonderful audience as well as a wonderful performer, and to show my support for others as well.

3. Act and communicate respectfully to all others involved, supporting my fellow students remembering that each of us has our own gifts and faults.

4. Stay positive at each of our rehearsals and in general about our project.

5. Keep my mind open to constructive criticism, and be ready to be pushed out of my comfort zone for the benefit of my personal growth.

6. Maintain my school work-load, understanding that school, not theater, comes first. I will budget my time properly and not procrastinate on class and homework. To that end, I will never use my role in the play as a reason as to why as assignment is not completed.

7. Keep my cell phone/iPod or other electronic devices in my book bag. Everybody’s time is extremely valuable. Not doing so will require devices to be taken and given to your parent.

8. Have no food or drinks in the stage area. Snack items should be consumed before rehearsal in the cafeteria area. Trash will be disposed of properly.

I understand that if I cannot live up to these expectations, Mr. Bannister may need to replace me.

If, for whatever reason, I cannot attend a rehearsal or meeting due to an unavoidable important prior commitment, I will give Mr. Bannister or Miss Joy at least one week’s notice. I understand that breaking my agreement to attend a rehearsal that requires my participation is a serious inconvenience to the production as a whole. I will do my best to not let any other commitments interfere with my rehearsal schedule.

If there is a sudden emergency and I cannot attend rehearsal, I will do my best to get a message to Mr. Bannister or Miss Joy prior to the start of rehearsal that day. I will not ask another student to be my messenger. I also understand that I may need to give extra time out of my own personal schedule to make up for the missed rehearsal time. I understand that I will not be permitted to participate in any Theater function (rehearsal or performance) on a day that I am absent from school.

I also understand that no more than three absences will be allowed.

I promise to give to my parents/guardians all handouts sent home from Mr. Bannister or Miss Joy.

As a member of the production, I agree to participate in the producing of the play. More specifically, I promise to assist as crew for publicity, costuming, props, set construction, and/or any other responsibilities that may be needed to make the show a success.

PARENTS: I promise to help my child and the production in any way I can, knowing that parent volunteers are vital to the success of all productions.

We have read and agree to adhere to all of the Drama Club rules, guidelines and regulations.
