Here are most of the lyrics for the musical, not completely polished.
Prologue
CAST: Who lies here dead? Who has killed her?
Who can undo all the carnage, all the hatred?
How can we undo what has now been done?
SOLOIST:Do I see a glimmer of hope for this girl’s family?
CAST: Let us now reflect on what has been
And we shall slowly unravel how we got here…
Aspasia’s Mom
How can she not see the power of her mind?
Why must she play upon the places that are weak?
Such new beginnings can be the death of things we hold so dear,
But maybe something special could begin here…
How can I show them my love for them is true?
I’ve let them down so many times; that’s not what I want to do.
I don’t think they’ll believe me–that I have some magic, too. (draw it out)
A little change can make us strong; there’s a freedom in the truth.
Sam and Aspasia, my heart belongs to you.
No matter where you go, I want to be there, too.
Sam and Aspasia, how I want to hold you close,
But some journeys you must walk alone.
Welcome to School
PATIENCE:Let me clue you in here on a social strategy.
I can tell you’re insecure. Come along, stick with me.
I can see that you’re a newbie (ha!). The feeling’s in your eyes.
Let me tell you how it works here, so you’re left with no surprise.
The humans here embrace their turf like a sacred boundary line.
You’re in a foreign country, let me help you read the signs.
MATH: PENCILS POISED! WATCH AND LEARN. STOP THAT NOISE! SET YOUR CALCULATOR!
PATIENCE: (spoken) As you see, we have a fully-developed after-school Math team that meets everyday for two hours after school. This is Helix, Deidrich, Cedric, and Backgammon along with their (sung) posse of impossible IQ-buff peeps, they’ll stop you in your tracks to ask…
HELIX: What’s the square root of 7,654,321.0?”
PATIENCE: (interrupting) My travel advisoroy says (accessing I-pod touch?) avoid them at all costs! That is if you have any interest in avoiding social mores.
ASPASIA: I’ve barely got here, and she’s telling me that stereotyping…
PATIENCE: (interrupting everyone) That’s right stop that noise! (sung) Notice the social strata here is something you must reckon with my dear. Although, I’ve left you with no choice, I’d like to hear your voice upon these matters.
ASPASIA: Sure! I’ve barely got here, and you’re telling me…
PATIENCE: Well, Spaish, my dear, I’ve got to make you see….
Aspasia, beware. There are rules that are not written on chalkboards.
The geeks are here, the goths are there. The jocks, the brains, the bores.
Let me make a proper introduction:
GOTHS: The goths! The goths! (2X)
LEAD GOTH SINGER: Sing about the way life has shot you down! Colors like crimson flow down. Spider demons tangle emotions and shattered devotion shall break your soul!
ASPASIA: I’m sure we’ll get to hear more poetry in language arts. There ARE other colors out there other than the black you choose to wear.
PATIENCE: I wouldn’t use the girls’ bathroom under pain of prolonged death.
I’d stock your locker with lots of gum so you don’t soil your pretty breath.
ASPASIA: Stereotyping seems to be what she does the best.
Why can’t my new beginnings be easier than this.
JOCKS: (dribbling onto the stage , singing) Players: Dribble, dribble, hustle, score!Pass the ball, do it again!
MATH KIDS: PENCILS POISED! WATCH AND LEARN. STOP THAT NOISE! SET YOUR CALCULATOR!
GLEE CLUB: Welcome to the glee club. Sign-ups are for all grades.
DRAMA STUDENTS: Figaro, Figaro, Figaro, Figaro. Drama Club Forever!
SCIENCE TEAM: Make observations. Great conversations. Come join the fun. Come join the science team.
GOTHS: Black hair, black clothes, black soul. (Incomprehensible word.)
PATIENCE: STOP!
(BIG PAUSE)
WHOLE CAST: ONE SCHOOL!
ASPASIA:And so might we assume appearance rarely counts. It’s easy to misjudge. But can we get along and break the mold?
PATIENCE:Perhaps I oversimplify. Perhaps I’ve got it wrong. Maybe we can find a way that we all get along.
WHOLE CAST: Let’s unite!!!
(BUILD UP EVEN LONGER FOR GRAND FINALE. BIG APPLAUSE.)
PATIENCE: It’s not over. I’ve got plans. I won’t concede defeat. Unity may be for some, but it’s not the same for me.
WHOLE CAST: One school. One dream. One soul. One plea.
Mrs.Fryni’s aria
A little of this, and a little of that. Take your assigned seats, and get rid of all those hats.
Johnny was a little boy, now Johnny is no more.
What Johnny thought was H20, was H2SO4.
Listen to me and you might live long here.
Please respect your teacher, your future starts right here.
Some stuff could make you blind for life.
Stay clear of all the stuff that goes kaboom.
I’m familiar with the teenage mind.
So keep your hands to yourself, pencils ready please.
Obtain a piece of magnesium ribbon, put it in a test tube. (Ms.Fryni, what do we do with the extras?)
Insert the copper foil you’re given. Wait for step three (Ms.Fryni, I’m already done with step eight!)
Be careful as you handle the dropper to your right. (Patience stop doodling on the instructions!)
10 drops of hydrochloric acid is quite enough (I read this new state ordinance about handling H2SO4.)
It’s such a scary thing when teens have power at their hands (I’ve been doing this experiment since I was five!)
But that doesn’t worry me, I owe it all to circumstance. (Did I fail to mention I’ve been studying Socrates, Plato, and Descartes this past summer for fun?)
What do you observe when you heat the crucible? (Just as I predicted!)
And what happens to the copper foil. (would you like that baked or boiled?)
Some predictions will fly, and some will be dead-wrong.
But you’ll find your way, as your teachers help you along.
Where is my agenda book; it must be in my car.
Where are my safety goggles? I know they can’t be that far.
Has it been an hour so soon. Class is dismissed! (I just getting started on the last chapter of the book!)
ACCOMPANIMENT: SPOKEN–Any volunteers? (nobody answers) Okay, Herbert! (Herbert is verrrrrrrry smart and keeps asking questions. Keep Herbert speaking; Mrs.Fryni still singing.)
SPOKEN: Herbert, come up here!
SUNG: Obtain a piece of magnesium ribbon. Put in a test tube.
10 drops of hyrdochloric acid is quite enough.
What do you observe when you heat the crucible?
And what happens to the copper foil?
Some predictions made will fly. And some will be dead wrong.
But follow instructions.
Aspasia’s song of hope
I see a hope come alive. I’ve seen my young soul reborn.
There is a fire in my mind. My line of sight stretches wide.
Nothing can shake my resolve. I’ll end this year with renown.
Should the whole world oppose me, I will not back down.
Hope spreads like wings underneath my broken heart
And I will live to bring forth a brand new day.
Nothing will keep me from dreaming this powerful dream.
I don’t know how to retreat. I’ll face each foe on my feet.
Nothing will keep my heart down. I’ve got both feet on the ground.
Bring out the worst you can do. I’ll take the biggest of dreams.
What is this new power in my hand.
I don’t think the world will understand.
Where should I unleash this strange gift?
Who can understand?
Makeover Song
PATIENCE: I can change the first impressions that people have of you, dear,
With just a little lipstick here and color there.
ASPASIA: Maybe I’m not the kind of girl that was meant to be your project,
To mend and mold the way you want.
PATIENCE: I am so glad to be helping.
ASPASIA: But you never asked me all that I was thinking. Yeah-yeah-yeah….
PATIENCE: I’ll help you out by making you drop-dead gorgeous.
ASPASIA: Never was the plan I had in mind.
PATIENCE: I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.
ASPASIA: Let’s get down to it, what’s been on your mind?
PATIENCE: (spoken) Well, so you have you been able to talk to Finn?
ASPASIA: (spoken)A little.
PATIENCE: (spoken) About me, right? What did he say? Did he bring up that thing in fourth grade?
ASPASIA: (spoken) We haven’t really spoken about you yet.
PATIENCE: What are you waiting for, honestly?
ASPASIA: I guess the timing hasn’t been ideal, you see.
I’ve barely set foot inside this new community,
But give me a chance and maybe I can help you out.
(spoken) We’re meeting to work on the science fair project in a little while. Maybe I can try then.
PATIENCE: I can bring out your eyes with a perfect color choice
And give you definition that will turn the heads of boys.
You won’t believe the power! Just wait till I get through.
You’ll be a better version of you.
ASPASIA: What use would I have for this stuff?
I have never seen that color.
What is that stuff on your fingers
That you’re rubbing in my hair?
Why?
FINN: Why won’t she look at me? It’s like I’m not here.
ASPASIA: What is he thinking? I’m paralyzed by fear.
FINN: Why do I hesitate to speak my mind. I can’t articulate what’s deep inside.(
ASPASIA: (spoken) Did you find the section on valarium?
FINN: (spoken) Uh…yeah.
FINN: Just give one moment when our eyes meet.
ASPASIA: Just one brave moment when we won’t retreat.
FINN: How can we talk when she won’t meet my eyes?
ASPASIA: When he knows me, will he be surprised?
BOTH: No more lies, let’s…
ASPASIA: (spoken) I don’t have that page. Looks like it was ripped out.
FINN: (spoken) Here, just look on with me.
ASPASIA: It’s just so impossible, telling the truth.
FINN: I hope she can’t read my mind. Aspasia I love you.
FINN: All that I need is just a drop of courage to just tell her the truth.
(ASPASIA: Just so impossible. We’re just two teens trying to get things done.)
BOTH: Just so impossible.
ASPASIA: How can we say what we were meant to say.
(FINN: How can I say what I just need to say.)
ASPASIA: How can we say what we were meant to say.
(FINN: How can we say?)
FINN: How can I…
ASPASIA: Why don’t you…
FINN: Maybe I’ll muster up the strength.
ASPASIA: Boys are so…
FINN:…terrified that I will mess up every word.
ASPASIA: What are you…
FINN: …waiting for…
ASPASIA: The perfect moment to arise! (light shatters)
NO SONG FOR SAM’S SCENE
INTRO MUSIC DURING PATIENCE’S MONOLOGUE PRECEDING HER TRANSFORMATION AND EVIL ARIA. SHE’LL BE POINTING AT THINGS, QUIETLY AND SLOWLY, PUSHING ONE THING. WHAT HAVE WE GOT HERE? GOING ON TO BIGGER THINGS.
Vengeance
Revenge is a dish best served cold they say.
And my revenge will go forth this day.
Spaish you have taken my true love away.
But I have the power to make him stay.
You may have some power that resides in your mind.
But mine is the power of the killing kind.
I’ll lash out with power that you can’t hold back.
I’ll kick you around like an old hackey-sack.
This kind of magic is black to its core.
My evil will leave you begging, “No more!”
My pow’rs imperceptible and indestructible.
Nothing around can entangle me.
Finn will be mine just a matter of time.
If he won’t even have me, that’s fine! Cause the power is mine!
Rack up some points to the Patience scoreboard.
I’ll rock this joint like an overlord!
No one in my line of sight can escape my wrath.
If you don’t like my showers, here comes a bath of wrath!
Aspasia, remember the boundary line?
You crossed it when you went for Finn!
It’s not over! I have plans! Wait for the hammer to FALL!
Hanging on Every Word
Well we analyze and we criticize a simple flicker in one’s eyes.
We can be such fools with so much to lose. We’re too busy to realize
Assumptions can get in the way. Emotion can blind our eyes.
Though I can’t read you, and you can’t read me,
Does it mean that we can’t try?
I’m gonna hang on your every word.
Make believe I can read your thoughts.
Cherish the times you look at me.
Though I don’t understand you now,
And I can’t shine a light through your cloud.
I’ll hang on your every word for now.
You can tell me anything. It would only make you love your more.
I’m O.K. with an open-door policy. I can’t be afraid anymore.
Even if it takes a thousand years. I will never turn my back on you.
I will take every opportunity that brings me closer to truth.
Power Clash
PATIENCE: It’s not over. I have plans. I won’t concede defeat. Unity may be for some, but it’s not the same for me.
ASPASIA: You’ve barked up the wrong tree this time. I won’t play your game. Hit me with your best shot this time, the chance won’t come around again!
PATIENCE: You sit there looking pretty with your little duckies in a row!
ASPASIA: Well, you’re sitting in a frying pan like an unassuming toad.
You don’t feel the heat rising, threatening to fry your hide.
PATIENCE: Forget your plans to win. Might as well step aside.
DUET: Something you must learn before the cannons fire. I never lose!
You can hit me with the power that you’ve acquired but I won’t bruise!
Let’s settle this one out of court or there will be a world of hurt.
PATIENCE: My perfume will be the last thing that you snort. ASPASIA: Get ready to kiss the dirt!
PATIENCE: I can push you here and there. (exhibits power on Aspasia)
ASPASIA: And I can give you quite a scare. (blows up light behind Patience)
PATIENCE: Doesn’t matter the weight. Doesn’t matter the size.
I control all these things, with a wink of my eye.
PATIENCE: Finn come here (it happens)
ASPASIA: Is that love?
PATIENCE: Steve goes there (it happens)
ASPASIA: Kiss my glove!
ASPASIA: Do you think that you can have him just cause he’s attractive?
I’m so ticked right now I might go nuclear reactive.
Did you ever get the clue that I might take you out?
So I guess that the joke is on you!
PATIENCE: Do you think that you will win because you’ve got advantage?
Maybe you should reevaluate before you en guarde.
Don’t be fooled. You’re dealing with someone who moves everything.
So I won’t be held back by you.
PATIENCE: Since it’s so obvious that I cannot be held back by your little flares.
Maybe it’s time to sign a truce now that I’ve got you scared.
ASPASIA: Why do you have to control every single detail of every circumstance.
Is it some weird compensation for a family hurt?
PATIENCE: Listen up. My good friend. We can easily make peace if we join our hearts. When are you gonna see there’s strength in numbers?
A solid group of four cannot be moved.
When are you gonna see there’s strength numbers?
If you go with Steve you’ll never lose.
ASPASIA: It’s not over. I have plans. I won’t concede defeat. Unity may be for some, but…(spoken) PATIENCE, you devil! You’re made of the same stuff as me! You used my words against me. I’ll win this war. Just wait and see!
Revelations
SAM: One day while walkin’ round. I stumbled on a truth that scared me at the start.
Some bullies took me down. My heart was pounding fast. I had to get away.
I reached my hand to stop them. And that’s exactly what I did…
ASPASIA: I’ve always had a sense that I possessed a gift that makes me slightly strange.
The power of my mind can trigger sudden bursts of chaotic energy.
I can reach out with my anger and…(hums one note of tune for each explosion.)
SAM and ASPASIA: At last I know you, and I’m no longer in the dark.
Now it all makes sense.
Now that I know you and all the things that you can do, it’s great to know the truth.
I will always cherish you, now that I know you, now that I know you, I’m so glad I know you.
Power Clash Reprise:
ASPASIA: That’s so wrong.
PATIENCE: What’s that Spaish?
ASPASIA: Back up please (she’s trying to set Patience up underneath something that will fall on her)
PATIENCE: What did you say?
ASPASIA: You cannot imagine all the anger I am building.
With all the stuff that I’ve amassed I might bring down the ceiling.
Suddenly I don’t feel that an act of spite is wrong.
Patience, you’re going down!
PATIENCE: Who’d believe the ramblings of a self-important newbie!
If you don’t agree with me, I guess you’d better sue me!
Better pack a lunch, because I don’t know the word defeat…(scene continues.)
Background music wraps up scene.
How Can I Tell Them Reprise:
ASPASIA: Now that you’ve told us. It’s time to stand our ground.
Running from the scary things has only brought us down.
SAM: Mom can’t you see that, we’re longing to be free
Of losing all the memories that now we want to see.
MOM: Sam and Aspasia, my heart belongs to you.
DAUGHTERS: We’ve never wanted for your love. We know your heart is true.
TRIO: Somehow we’ll overcome the mountains we must climb.
We’ll face what we must with a bond of sacred trust.
ASPASIA: I’m sworn to secrecy.
SAM: And so am I.
MOM: And Mom makes three. (pause)
TRIO: We will live our lives so happily…again.

When are you gonna see? (2X)
You’re good at this; I’m good at that.
What would happen if our skills could just collide?
I stink at this; you stink at that.
Turn it all upside down and realize….
When are you gonna see there’s strength in numbers?
When our strengths unite it’s hard to lose.
When are you gonna see that you must…
Let down your guard. Let down your guard. (2X)
I wanna know why we drifted so far.
That we couldn’t see the truth.
About how things got so bad.
Why do we push down the grief
That separates our dreams
Until we’re far apart?
I’m gonna hang on your every word.
Cherish your every thought.
Love you no matter what you say…
Though I don’t understand you now
And I can’t shine a light through your cloud.
I’ll hang on your every word for now.
