This is where you will find information supporting arts education, specifically performing arts. There are Maine Learning Results for performing arts (along with visual arts), dance, and music. Through my searching over the last year I have not found one middle school performing arts teacher in the entire state of Maine! Until that day arrives (hopefully soon) this site will be here to show research for arts education, links to arts education sites, and other information.
One article says the following about arts integration in the classroom: “Kids that are artistically motivated incorporate those talents into different core-learning areas that help them go deeper in their learning and make more connections. Students with an integrated fine-arts education can better recall important facts and topics during a test and retain what they’ve learned longer.” http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2009/09/13/20090913edartsmagnet0913.html
